In module two, we will deepen our understanding of the ageing process and gerontology. It explores the societal views of elderly people and what modern society considers as “old age.”

 

In module three, we will take an in-depth look at some stereotypes associated with older people and how these stereotypes affect older people. It also discusses life stages and theories, touching on some of the stigmas of old age. 

 
 

In module four, we will explore how mental health declines with age and learn about the types of physical and mental illnesses that are associated with old age, including various learning disabilities, Alzheimer’s and dementia. 

 
 

In module five, we will broaden our knowledge of the term “quality of life” and what it means. It explores loneliness factors, depression and “death anxiety”, as well as how to cope with bereavement.
